50 Gigs of FREE Storage! What Would You Do? Rich Sage Review of ADrive: www.adrive.com
[UPDATED: Dec. 2008]
Since I wrote this review, ADrive has added the lone missing option that I mentioned. They now have a desktop client that you can use to sync files and restore them if necessary. You can read about it from this link.
They have also added 14-day trial versions of their paid services — Their Premier and Signature services add several more features and ample storage space.

Today I started my day by creating an ADrive Account with 50 GB of free storage. I was in the practice of allowing access to a folder on one of my pc’s for sharing files. However, with 50 GB of free space, why not do that online?
There are many other very necessary reasons for having such space, apart from the obvious back up:
- Disaster recovery
- Automated back up and incremental back up, which are coming soon
- Easy file sharing
Another rather cleaver and more and more necessary feature you can use such a large amount of space is to back up laptops and hand-held data just in case it’s lost.
I’ve also heard that security checks are increasingly more and more intrusive. If you want to protect your data, the ideal way is to upload the files, take an empty device or crucial files and propagate your files and data once you get to your destination.
I think that ADrive is a very handy service that offers a lot for free. However, what will be essential to a successful experience for the customer is when they have an automated incremental back up system, which is promised as ‘coming soon’.
[UPDATE: Dec. 2008] As I said, the freebie was good. Since I wrote the review they have added some of the missing features and now I believe the service is much better. Furthermore, I have not had a negative posting about their services for a while. For example, such a back up service an endure “outages” for example. Outages are not unusual for “CLOUD Computing” — Even Google’s Gmail has had it’s outages.
In the case of ADrive they seem to continuously improve upon their basic services, so, I am inclined to give them a good rating. As for their services, I will keep testing and see what I experience and tell you with another update. For what is offered now, I think it’s a good service to meet our make money online needs.

hey, Rich; does ADrive still work for you, or are you like thousands of other supposed users that can’t get the ADrive.com site to open at all?
Fantastic idea; suck implementation. 0 stars ADrive.com
Hi,
I have not used the backup process at aDrive simply because I have not gotten into my “travel mode” yet. For my current back up, I have my own online server and a bunch of older drives. I have no problem reaching aDrive.COM. I hope you can too!

I have been using it but it’s not very robust. I get an error occassionaly and have to restart the backup.
I’m still using a backup for adrive backup………
Hope they get their act together.
i think ADrive is fine. the features are basic and it’s not hard to figure out. for something free, it’s giving me a lot of value. i also dont have a lot of problem accessing it.
sometimes if i forget to sign out, then try to access it again some other time, it’ll force the open account to sign out which is great. so i think it’s fine.
