Apple Day 2008:  iPhone 3G Released

The all-in-one, hand held device is here.  Well, it was here about a year ago, but there were a few drawbacks in the device.  It was just a matter of time before those issues were corrected.  Now the device is ready!

If you are left out of the frenzy, I’ve got a quick tip to help you survive the next 3 days of hype and messages from friends who’ll want you to join their every circle of friends they’ve activated using the iPhone3G.

So, if you are laid back like me and will wait a month or so to pick up one, then follow these tips from a Yahoo blogger and survive the coming days and weeks…

IF you are one of the lucky few to get your hands on the iPhone3G, then it’s time to explore what you can do with it.  Just visit some of the sites I’ve reviewed and you’re good to go!

iphone3g Survival Guide

First a survival guide…

Above are some tips to follow if you are an owner of an iPhone2G.  Don’t feel left out –there are a ton of things you can do with your old phone, starting with an upgrade to the new iTunes and being able to download software for your iPhone.

That was just a survival guide, if you cannot get your iPhone today!

Here is a list of links that should lead you to a lot of applications that you’ll not be able to live without.  Everything from using the new iPhone3G as a remote control to being able to use voice recognition to take notes –you can do it all from your iPhone3G!

What Can You do with the New iPhone 3G?

iPhone3G Applications Store

I believe this will be the most used function in the new iPhone3G  -the applications.  They are what will make the older phones, iTouch hand helds and the new iPhone3G worth all the money spent.  These applications which you can take anywhere and use at any spot with WiFi, will enable a new breed of Internet users.  If people walking around texting annoyed you, wait until you see the drones of people who will be walking around while glued to the iPhone screen running their must-see applications, gaming and even trying to keep up with work!  Talk about taking multitasking to a new level!

In a hurry to get that process started? Just learn about what you can do from the Apple Web Applications Store.  Of course, this is just the online information area at the Apple web site.  The actual store runs on the iPhone3G, in a new version of iTurnes, where you can browse all the apps and download what you need.

Some of the Applications that we cannot live without!

Here is a good list of applications put together by the Apple Insider report.  Imagine a device that is a universal remote to manage all of your media.  Imagine a device that can take voice messages and store the text for you to email later.  Who needs a key board?

Access everything from MySpace to Facebook –mobile versions or read several newspapers.  Just need stock trading software next.  I am sure that’s just a few weeks away.  Anyway, the Apple Insider has a pretty good report and links on applications that you can download (many for free) to your iPhone.

Few More Reasons Why the Iphone3G is the Hottest All-In-One Device:

iphone3g plus the Cloud

One of the hottest computing trends is to use the “Cloud” to compute. In the past, we used our desktop mainly for our computing needs. Then came the Internet and a whole new generation of services.  Now comes a combination of both, where some of the computing is done on your hand held device, while another set of computing is done online at a “server farm”.   Apple’s Mobile Me is using “THE CLOUD” to great lenghts by allowing you to do some aspects of computing on you iPhone3G.  While a major portion of storage for applications like an address book, which you don’t want to lose, synchoronize with Mobile Me online.  That’s not all –everything from e-mail to your calendar can be synchronized from your iPhone.

I am sure as the product matures, there will be a host of data, services and applications that you will be able to use with The Cloud and iPhone.  Even ways to find your phone or iTouch if you lose it.

Folks, this is just the start!

Free Applications for the iPhone:

iPhone3G Free Applications

Apple’s iTunes Applications Store is suppose to have a lot of FREE Applications.  Here is a list that you might want to look for applications that make your iPhone work much better and extend it’s versitility to a small computer.  For two decades we’ve waited for the perfect handheld device to do it all.  Now we have it.  What’s even better are the applications that programmers will dream of building.  These applications will extend the iPhone to areas yet to be imagined!

What the Future Holds:

iPhone3G Worldwide

Today’s launch is limited to around 21 countries.  None of them include any BRIC countries –Brazil, Russia, India and China.  Brazil and India are included in the next round of countries adopting the use of the iPhone.  However, two heavy-weights that are absent are Russia and China, which I am sure will join the party before the end of 2008.  I just finished predicting that 15 million iPhones will be sold by the end of the year.  I am sure given the demand I’ve seen worldwide, about 3 or 4 million of those will be sold this summer!  That means by the end of the summer, Apple will reach the targetted 10 million in iPhone sales they predicted in 2008.  Then add to that the sales potential by the end of the year from the BRIC countries, and you’re well ahead of the conservative predictions that were made last year.

As I’ve said many times, these are all very compelling reasons to not only purchase an iphone, but also to own a piece of the Apple company.  I am sure their stock will be near double the current price by the end of 2009.  Now, what are you waiting for?  Just get your own iPhone!

Carpe Diem,
Rich Sage
