BEST Free PHP APPS

BEST FREE PHP APPLICATIONS

This is a list of my BEST FREE PHP Applications that can help you maintain everything on your web site or even complete online e-commerce site. PHP is a scripting language favored by programmers for online applications. PHP is the “p” in LAMP — Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP.

One of the best tips I can give you is this: IF you are considering starting a web based service or application or even building a community, first look for a low-cost or even free PHP application to get started with and prove your concept. Once you get stated, you build on a free or low-cost PHP application with your custom “mods” (modifications).

WordPress Content Management System
WordPress has to be at the top of this list. WordPress manages almost 100% of my site -at least the publishing areas. WordPress is the perfect Content Management System (CMS) for any small business to even large publishing operations. For those of you who are new to online publishing, WordPress has hundreds of pluggins that can do everything from helping with search engine optimization to automated reporting of updates to search engines. It will be your best online friend!

Joomla! Content Management System
While WordPress is suitable for 90% of the online businesses wanting to publish content online, Joomla will help you run a full service e-commerce site! If you are new to online business, Joomla! will be a handful to learn. However, once you do that, the sky is the limit. You can run any type of online business and even offer consulting services to any company that needs a fully operational e-commerce site.

I will be updating this page with great PHP resources from time to time.

Hey Rich

I think you’re right to showcase WordPress and Joomla, but I wonder if people realize how much setting up there is with Joomla.

It’s a *very* flexible system and you can make it jump hoops, but it does take a bit of getting used to. Compared to WordPress I’d say it’s at least 20 times harder to get your head around.

Depends on what you’re used to, of course, but a full e-commerce site is going to take some investment in time no matter what platform you use.

And with a price tag of $0 it’s within everyone’s reach.
