E-Book Creation and Distribution Lessons

Rich Sage E-book Creation and Distribution Lessons

As part of my ongoing series on the creation of an e-book, I wanted to discuss these 3 elements:
- Protection of the e-book from those who’ll copy it.
- Initial sales process
- Lastly, the best sales channel
There are a few considerations that a writer has to make regarding the decisions publishing an e-book, apart from content. The first of those is if there is any type of copy protection at all –to protect people from just sharing it as a download. Or even something as simple as sending it via e-mail to a friend.
Naturally, the e-book will be copy protected with an ISBN number. However, the other “copy” that I am discussing is the duplication of a digital file.
There is really no way to protect it for certain.
Sure, I could protect the e-book with a password, but, then the problem is that people forget the password and will e-mail me to find out. Others will probably find the copy protection and password a good target for an exercise of “brute force” where the protection is broken.
Here is my solution. My e-book is just an introduction to my business solutions, success plan and the lessons that I teach everyone. Even if someone copies the ideas, it really does very little to them without going to my membership area. The value of the e-book is perhaps, what the reader paid for it, but the value of the free membership access is at least 10 TIMES or more! I plan to keep it that way, and keep adding “value” to the membership area.
In the Rich Sage Membership Area I’ll present the rest of the lessons and the links, examples –all the details that the reader needs to know.
The other problem is an outright copy of the e-book. Well, that may occur, but with my Rich Sage writing style, my life’s philosophy, I doubt just any “Joe Blow” can copy it.
INITIAL SALES PROCESS of E-Book:
Once the e-book is created, I’ll make the initial sales via my favorite forum: The Warrior Forum (WF). >>
The Warrior Forum has a special sales area called the “WSO” –Warrior Special Offers section that allows registered members to post their own products for sale. This is special because most forum don’t allow members to post items for sales. The WF does, and rather quickly. With just about 100 contributing posts a product can be sold at the special forum.
Putting the e-book on sale there gives two advantages:
- First, I can sell to a community of Internet Marketers and get their criticisms.
- I can initiate some early sales to get an understand of the market acceptance.
- Most importantly, I can get them to evaluate my sales process.
I think the last item is vital to the success of my e-book sales –the Sales Letter. Only with a good evaluation of it by those who write such copy, make such web pages and deal in that world daily will I know that I’ve got a “winning sales letter”.
The Warrior Forums also has an area called “Warrior Offers” –this is not a forum area, but a marketplace that has special products from members. I am not sure if I’ll sell my e-book there, but I highly recommend the marketplace to my readers who will find it a very inexpensive sales channel. I am sure I’ll present the second or third edition of the e-book for sale there.
Lastly, the E-Book Sales Channels:
The only sales channel that I plan to use as I start out is the ClickBank marketplace. I already have a membership. I’ll use that to put the e-book up for sale. Being a seller costs a few dollars. However, anyone can become an affiliate for free. This is a great way to earn an income. I’ll review that process in an upcoming update.
In addition to the ClickBank Marketplace, >> I can also recommend PayDot.COM. >> It does a similar function, apart from the fact that at PayDot COM the merchant (seller) has to also pay the commissions to affiliates mainly through Paypal. That can at times lead to commissions coming 60 to 90 days from the sale of a product, as oppose to ClickBank that pays it’s own commissions that arrive via check after about a month.
My suggestion is to start with ClickBank and expand to PayDot COM if enough Affiliates request it. My last issue on all this is that I’ll need to develop auto responder messages, sales letters, supporting images, sample ads, and a whole host of sales materials to support the Affiliates who’ll sell my e-book. I really have to get to that part now!
