Setup Your Custom Google Search
As part of my praise of Google services to all webmasters, I’ll add to my series on “Earning $123 per day with Google Adsense” with this tutorial on how to setup a custom search box which will search your website and display ads based on that search in the results. Since these are Google Adsense ads, which will contribute a good amount of revenue to your goal of $123/day with Adsense!
Let’s get started. As usual, you’ll need to enter your Adsense account and navigate to the Adsense for Search area. Once there, you have a countless amount of options to setup a search results page that meets your visitor needs, and your expectations.
The second reason to do this is because searches result in far more clicks on ads than a general web site page. At least that is my experience. This is a very quick and effective way to increase your Google Adsense revenue by 10% or even 20% without having to do a lot of work. It’s a feature of AdSense that is available to you –why not put it to good use?
How to Customize Your Custom Google Search Box…

Once you select the custom search option for your website, there are several options to customize everything from what is searched to how the results will display.
These are the options that you can select from:
- Select the sites that you want Google to display search results from –you can enter several, but my logic was that site visitors would use the search to find content. The revenue was secondary.
- Use up to two search boxes. I’ll always use the one on the sidebar.
- Even insert key words to “tune” the Google search engine to your content
- Then choose a language and even pick the Google country-specific domain to deliver the results
Once you’ve selected the above options, you’re presented with the below “look ‘n feel” options. In my case, I went with the simple watermark and search box that I think fits in nicely with RichSage dot com.

That so far is the easy part and may take about 5 to 10 minutes of your time. Now comes a little more work… You will need to design a simple page that displays the Google custom search results. In my case, the results page is integrated in the center column of the WordPress layout. When you do a search you’ll see a similar outcome to the below image.

In the above search for “Rich Sage” Google returned a custom results page that is perfect for my site. In the search results the title of the page, “Google Search”, the colors (borders) and the location of the ads –top and bottom are all specifications that I entered in the Google custom search setup. In the search results page you will see more Google ads in the side column. However, those ads are always part of the side bar for Rich Sage dot com.
To get your own custom Google search code and add AdSense to your web site, and setup just as I have.
This is a continued series where I’ll explore the steps that I take to build a $123 dollar per day AdSense income. I’ll point to many example sites that I use for the project, where most of the money that I earn will be donated to charity.
