How to Make a Quick Buck by the Rich Sage

Several months ago I wrote about “making a quick buck” as a joke –it seems like a lot of people are searching the term, while there is no real magical way to do it. However, there is a “tried and true” way to make relatively quick money using skills that you learn online.  I’ll dedicate this post to doing just that…

There are a million ways to lose some bucks rather quickly, but just a handful to make money quickly –especially when you’re trying to make money online.  This post is all about keeping your costs very low, and build “value” for potential clients in your local area.  Then selling what you’ve built!

When approached in a the following manner you can setup a REAL Business online and keep building it… Here is what you need to do:  Step by Step, How to Make a Quick Buck!

FIRST SOME BACKGROUND…

When I first started making money online it was terrible –my expenses were very high and sales were little or none.  Making a dollar or two daily will not get you anywhere!

Then I explored a much more local strategy and my life got a lot better.  Below is how I’ve done much of that work –to focus on local merchants (Clients) and build success for them online.  Interestingly enough, the more I’ve done that, the more Clients seem to come from everywhere!  I think once you get your success growing locally, you’ll find out that it is not that difficult to expand your reach.

My advice is to keep your costs very low until you make one or two sales using this plan.  Then I advice you to jump on my extended idea –working with me in the Rich Sage Underground –to build your long-term, dependable success.

How to Make a Quick Buck: Setup and Execution

The BIG PICTURE by the Rich Sage:

1. First I’d like to give you the BIG PICTURE in all this — There are thousands of local businesses that are looking for customers online.  You need to help them do just that –develop several websites that cater to such business and then optimize those sites to generate leads, build “foot traffic”, announce special events/sales, make product sales, etc., etc.  I made a list of the highest paying search terms, which you need to adjust/adopt to your local community, city, etc.

YOUR MAIN TOOL: WORDPRESS!

2. What you’ll build is a website that uses WordPress CMS that is highly optimized for local search engine traffic –your site needs to show up for the top 5 key words in the local area on PAGE ONE of Google.  This is not that difficult given that competition in the local arena is not that high at this time.

YOUR OWN SITE: My Name dot Com or My Brand dot COM:

3. In my business model, you should have ONE SITE, using WordPress that you use to build for your own needs.  It may be YOUR_NAME.COM or something that represents your work.  Of course, this is a WordPress site that you can use to identify who you are and what you do.  Using this site, and some content, go to AdSense and get a FREE account*.  (NOTE: Adsense = Account that displays Google Ads based on your site content. NOT the same as AdWords!)  As you might have guessed, for me, it’s Rich Sage dot com.

* IF you get rejected, learn a bit about why and try to present another site with good content that will get accepted.

RESEARCH KEY WORD PHRASES for LOCAL CONTENT:

3. Now get an AdWords account from the same location.  Enter your AdWords account and go to the TOOLS TAB.  Research the top 10 key word phrases in your area (& if needed language) that people are searching for a given category of business.  You can reasearch topics like “dentists” or “Home remodeling” or various topics that are unique to your area.  Consider recent events that might occur again — Do people search “fix flood damage”? or “termite damage” or “asbestos removal” — I’d bet that you can come up with 100’s of terms that people search on a regular basis to solve thier LOCAL PROBLEMS.

IF you have a problem coming up with ideas just look at your local newspaper and you’ll be able to get 100’s of ideas –Consider seasonal problems, health issues, educational needs — I could write a book about “needs” of the local communities, so, I’ll stop there. I thinkyou get the point –every community has needs from problem solving to “what to do Saturday night” — your work invovles helping your Clients “get exposure” for the solutions they offer.

REGISTER YOUR SITE(S):

4. Then go to your favorite registrar like GoDaddy and register your domain name or two or even three that you are going to build a WordPress web site.  It is fine to use hyphenated-domain-names.TLD — I would separate each key word by hyphen AND then pick the .com, .net or .org OR .YOUR_COUNTRY_ABBREVIATION, like .us –whatever you feel is the best “fit” for your domain.  The .TLD does not matter that much –it will be the CONTENT that matters.

Word Of Caution: ONLY when you are prepared to BUY a domain should you search it at any registrar.  They are knows to QUICK REGISTER what you search. Watch out!  When I research a domain, I just search the name of Google and see if something comes up.  When I am ready, I go to my registrar.

Another tip: When you are going to register a domain, your fist step is to search those key words and see what type of domains show up in search results. I would do that BEFORE buying any domain.

Suggestion: Once you make one or two sales, and you’re CASH POSITIVE running your business, my suggestion is for you to have around a 100 Website INVENTORY.  Basically, you’ve started with a “JUST an IDEA” and you’ll keep adding VALUE to that website by following these steps –then build an inventory of such sites that you setup to SELL (from $500 to $5,000 –depending on what you have done with them) to a few that you will NOT SELL at this time because you’re doing a LOT MORE VALUE BUILDING to the sites.  The bottom line is that you will end up spending about $20 to $30 dollars to get started, then make a sale or two and earn $1,000 or more.  Then use a quarter or half of that money to build an inventory, which again costs perhaps $200 or $300 –then make a few more sales.  Then finally use $2000 to $3000 to maintain a much larger inventory and make 3 or 4 web sites sales PER month.

Follow the above methods to:

  • Watch your costs –don’t get caught up using your credit cards –STAY CASH POSITIVE!
  • Build step by step –All this can be hosted on ONE account.  I recommend WebHostGiant, where you can setup hosting for unlimited domains for a few dollars a month.
  • Use my tools and services, via the Rich Sage Underground to add even more value to your inventory of web sites.
  • Use my tools and services to signup as many users to what I call the “Unversal Admin Software” program –which will allow your Clients to manage their own online services.  Those Clients who don’t have time to do that -you can help them directly.

SETUP WEB SITE HOSTING:

5. After registration of a few names, you need to setup the hosting and then make sure to adjust your registration to point to the hosting.  Again, I recommend WebHostGiant, where you can setup hosting for unlimited domains for a few dollars a month.  Then your site will be LIVE in a few days.  So, time to research more domains, local businesses and what people are searching.

SETUP DATABASE & INSTALL WORDPRESS:

6. When your site is LIVE or when you can access your hosting and install WordPress, just upload the latest files and make a database.  This is not all complicated –just search YouTube to directions!  For example, search “Installing WordPress” or “Setting up a MySQL Database”.  Folks, this is very each stuff!  You’ll find a STEP by STEP Direction video and when you do one or two MySQL or Wordpress installation this will be like riding a bike  -easy stuff.  The installation of WordPress takes about 2 to 3 minutes AFTER you upload the files using a FTP program like FileZilla.

SOME IDEAS to KEEP IN MIND:

7. Make sure that you keep in mind your LOCAL search engine optimization ideas when you:

  • Name the Site
  • Create Categories
  • Name the Pages
  • Even name the posts –always keep in mind what people search for.

The name I have given this post is no accident –it is a term people search.  Every VISITOR COUNTS!!!

ADD VALUE with NEW CONTENT:

8. Now your WordPress site is LIVE!  Go ahead and add some content.  If you have trouble figuring out how to get content for your site, check out my Rich Sage Underground Membership videos!  I will show you my WordPress templates and how to methods for inserting automated content from RSS Feeds into your WordPress installation.

OPTIMIZE YOUR WORDPRESS SITE:

9. Follow the Search Engine Optimization methods for your installation, while keeping a focus on LOCAL content –for your County or City.  Don’t optimize for a State or Country!  Keep it to the CITY LEVEL — be at the top for those focus searches!

One of the most time consuming stages of your WordPress site “optimization” will be instaling and activating your Wordpress Plugins.  Plugins are software additions to WordPress that enable specific functions.  You’ll not need ALL of the suggested plugins –You’ll get a “feel” for what you need as you build your business. Furthermore, WordPress adds some of these functions to it’s “core” as they upgrade.  So, only add plugins that give you added benefits.

Also, keep in mind to get the latest (*Stable*) WordPress installation files from their home –WordPress.ORG.

TELL the WORLD ABOUT YOUR_SITE.COM:

10. PART ONE: You’ll need to enter several categories and posts into your FRESH WordPress installation!  Don’t forget this.  When Google’s search engine “bots” come to your site, they are looking for new and interesting stuff for their searches.  IF you have old, mold and stale content that you copied from somewhere, sorry, that’s NOT going to work.

PART TWO: Once you’ve completed these tasks, which should take you just 48 to 72 hours when you start, and perhaps, only 3 or 4 hours later with some experience, now it’s time to find potential buyers –a task that you start while waiting a few days for Google to list your site in the search index (search results)*.

* You can accomplish this quickly by pointing Google via it’s Webmaster Tools (Another Free Google Service!) to your WordPress installations’ SITEMAP.  Once you are ready to “GO LIVE” this is the last item you should do –Remember, only let Google, Yahoo or MSN “know” what you have done *after* you’ve setup completely.  AND keep in mind that WordPress does ALL of this automatically  –SEO, SiteMap, Notification –which you setup in the plugin area.  By telling Google, via the Webmaster Tools area, you’ll expedite your site “crawling” and capture of data/information/content into the key search engines.

CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT!

11. So, now you’re waiting to see your site on Google’s search index.  While you wait, it’s time to write a few articles that are unique.  Then follow this strategy and post those articles.  Make sure that the signature box in your article points to your website *using* the key word phrase!

DOING MORE = MORE VALUE…

12. Depending on the quality and sale price that you expect for your web site, it’s time to consider the following:

  • More articles –one a week for a few weeks
  • Publishing to the top directories –manually.
  • Publishing to a huge list of directory sites.

Remember, the more links you form from various websites to your WordPress site, the more optimized it becomes.  For example, linking to Rich Sage dot com is done like this:  Learn how to Make Money Online at Rich Sage dot com.  I will then link “Make Money Online” to Rich Sage dot com.  You should do the same for your key word phrases in your articles, press releases and any type of linking back to the site your setup.

By following a good link building strategy, your website will climb to the top of searches for a few key word phrases.

Now you’ve built significant value for your website! It not just a plain website, but it’s setup for key phrases that deliver the RIGHT visitors to your business Clients!

WILL YOU SELL or KEEP?

13. Now it’s time to work on selling it:

  • IF you placed Adsense ads on your site, note the advertisers that are displaying Google Ads –those are potential buyers.
  • IF your site is setup to generate leads, then you’ll need to contact as many local businesses that might be interested in buying those leads.

AGING, BUILDING EVEN MORE VALUE:

Don’t just setup a site and do nothing after –keep adding value.  Just by taking 30 min. PER week, and updating your site, you’ll be able to add more and more value.  When it comes to selling the site, each step counts.  You started with a site that cost you about $10 and your time.  You can make that worth $1,000 or $2,500 or even $10,000 by doing more and more to it.

14. IF you goal is to build more value, consider:

  • Building a community using a free Forum Software program.
  • Building a mailing list or auto-responder program sequence that builds a mailing list and /or leads.
  • AN OTO -one time offer that helps build a mailing list.
  • Building a Membership site.
  • Lead generation or lead capture site.

The more visitors that you generate and the more repeat visitors that you engage, the more value you’ll build for the web site.

Take for example a Membership site for a local business — how much work do you think you need to do to make such a Membership site worth $100,000?  If you did some research and went to work you could do this:

  • Domain: $10.00
  • Software: $100.00
  • Advertising: $2,500.00 over 6 months to a year.
  • Memberships: $20/year or what you feel is a good value.

Then sell the site to a local business or someone who wants to start work online. OR just keep it and build your own business.  I think you can see the potential in all this.  Keep your costs LOW and build your online success.

BUILDING LONG-TERM, DEPENDEBLE SUCCESS:

15.  Lastly, when you sell your site, which I hope you can do in 30 to 60 days from FIRST SETUP, you should keep the new Client on your List of Clients using the Tools and Services that are part of the Maxsimo Affiliate Program, which you will learn about via the Rich Sage Underground.
