Internet Explorer 8.0 Review and Comment by the Rich Sage
Just a few months ago Microsoft released the long-over-due, major update to Internet Explorer –IE8.
The new Internet Explorer adds a several functions that help Internet users of all types –adding to security and management of tabs.
The sole draw-back I can see from IE8 is that it will only work on Windows -XP and Vista (Yes, not even on Windows 7.0). So, if you are running Linux or Mac OSX, tough luck.
I’ve waited a few months since release to discuss in a review IE8 because that is the way I work — I don’t just at every new release. I wait a few months or even a version to work out the bugs and then get the software. Now I am ready to look into IE8.

Internet Explorer 8
As I continue, I’ll discuss why you need use IE8 when you are working to make money online…
Internet Explore 8 Review
Getting right down to WHY it’s a good idea to use Internet Explorer to make money online.
First of all, IE is the default web browser on corporate computers. In the personal computers sitting at home, there may be about 60% of the users firing up IE, but in the corporate world, I think it’s around the MID 90%.
If you want your work and projects to be seen in the corporate community, better make sure that your online work is seen well in IE. Also, keep in mind that many corporate users will browse at work on personal projects and end up looking at your work. All this most likely is done via a IE browser.
Secondly, since the browser war heated up for IE with Firefox, Safari and Opera entering the stage, IE has had to greatly improve it’s game. To compete with the upstarts, IE has improved security and speed for it’s latest release.
It had to do that or keep going down in relevance.
I can say with confidence that the latest release, IE 8, it the best browser by far. The only draw back I’ll discuss last.
One feature that I wanted to point out in IE8 is the tab management display –which groups tabs that you open using colors. If you look at the image posted above, not the there are two blue tabs. Those are tabs that are grouped into one subject matter because I opened a link from one website to another using a tab.
Lastly, all of the customizable features in IE8 are laid out for the user to configure (See: Tools >> Internet Options >>Advanced) which can be selected to your specific needs.
DRAWBACKS: IE8 vs. FIREFOX 3.0
Now to one single and giant draw back. When you compare IE 8 with Firefox, keep in mind that FF has a developer community that puts out their own programs that run within Firefox. These plugins allow all kinds of functions that developers dream up. I don’t see too much of that from IE. When you work with clients to help make money online, keep in mind that the functions from Firefox provide great advantages –there are plugins from SEO to key word selections.
Ok, now I’ll end my discussion –review is over. But, I wanted to take a moment to part with this thought on how to “NOT PROMOTE a PRODUCT”!!!
This update includes a “what were they thinking” episode — the video I hope is still online. After you see it, you will understand why I have doubts that it will *stay* online for much longer.
Again — WHAT were they thinking?

I am more like to use opera than firefox and explorer, the navigation more easily to use. thanks for the article.
HI,
In my conversation and review, I wanted to present a INTERNET DEVELOPER perspective than just a user’s angle. From a developers viewpoint, making sure a site looks great on IE and FF are the best ways to make sure that 95%+ users see the site as it should be seen. Since the sites are build to make money online or for someone else, we need to make sure that the functions work for most visitors.
RS.
Rich Sage… Even if Internet Explorer 8.0 worked on Linux… I doubt that many people would even use it, hehe. If they are on linux… I doubt they would be messing with Microsoft products, if you know what im saying?
OMG…. that commercial was gross
-Kevin
I agree… However, my point here is that as developers and just about anyone trying to make money online will have to use it to look at websites from time to time because of the number of corporate users.

I really like your articles with this and I feel lucky to be able to read your article, I really like your articles with this article because you have to give this a thought for more advanced again, many thanks
Good thoughts in the IE FF browser war. One you left out is Google Chrome which I recently switched to and is the fastest I’ve seen yet, can’t say enough. IE has some advantages for sure, but for me I like to see pages load fast.
IE is definitely not my browser of choice. I changed to FireFox 5 years ago, and haven’t looked back since then. IE just gets targeted by hackers & viruses so badly, and FireFox really seems to have overcome those issues. I’ve even been playing around with Chrome, and that is definitely the solution if you’re looking for speed in your browser.
