Some time ago in the old days I began building websites for myself using Microsoft Frontpage. Ughh, I still have two gigantic reference books on the subject that are now more suitable for boat anchors.
WordPress is a joy with its strength and flexibility which just continues to grow - great plug-ins, themes and a large community to interact with and learn from.
