Setting Up SEO Plugins and Sitemaps, a lesson from the Rich Sage

You’ve been reading about my SEO work for Savepedia.  Below I am actually using Wordpress to display some examples of what I do to optimize a site to make Google and other search engines happy.

In the below case I am using the ALL-in-ONE-SEO plugin from here.

By inserting the keywords, title, etc. you can insert into your pages the exact words and phrases that you want the search engines to capture.

In addition, you’ll find many other variables like “date” and “post title” that offer additional search engine friendly features.  In my case, I am experimenting over the summer with these “tags” and will be able to offer more advice later in the fall when I review these post and the results.

Again, below is an image where I have “hard coded” what I want search engines to ‘read’ and made this part of the themes’ pages.  If you want to edit the above key word/phrase locations, you’ll have to enter your wordpress installation using a FTP program and edit wp-content >> Themes >> Your active theme and the single.php file as well as the page that displays the main index pages. These are all PHP files, and make sure to edit a back-up of the file.  Save the original on the server unedited and ready to go live if you make a mistake.

Once you get all these steps done, it’s time to re-visit the Google/Webmasters area, and invite Google to drop by and start to read your pages again.  I reviewed the process in this update, just a day or two ago.

Your online to make money online, and it’s important that you get things started off in the right manner.  Setting up your website, regardless of the content management system, is the best way to make that work.

Keep in mind that most of your visitors will come from search engines.  The targeting of the right visitors is vital because, only the right visitor will make you money online.  In my case, the right visitor is someone who is trying to make money online working with Affiliate Programs.

Keep my updates in mind as I build my traffic to Savepedia(tm) from nothing to what I feel can be hundreds of thousands on a daily basis.  I will be working on only 4 or 5 core sites, and Savepedia(tm) is one of them.  It’s vital that I “get it right” –And for your benefit, you can follow along.
