Traffic Building Update January 2008

Rich Sage Traffic Building Update for January 2008 after just Two Months of WorkRich Sage Alexa Rank

During the fall of 2007, I started to focus on traffic. By that time the domain RichSage.COM was just 6 months old, the setup stuff –blog, forum, pages, membership, etc., etc. were all current and running. I then turned to building traffic. Here is my first post on the subject as I exercised some plans.

Following that, I kept doing the nearly daily work writing, publishing –usually to Digg and Sphinn. Then I followed up with articles to a few directories. That has kept the incoming links growing. As the chart shows (It’s like a Golf Game –lower the score, better the outcome!) the rank keeps improving! I started at over a million. Then cut that half, and now that in half. My next goal is to reach less than 100,000. That a measure against over a billion blogs and various web properties. I want to rank less than 100,000, which I am looking at reaching in March of 2008. That I think is the easy part. Cutting that in half a few more times is the *real* work!

The primary catalyst for the traffic growth so far:

  • Search Engine Optimization, mainly using WordPress
  • Registration with Google’s Webmaster tools and a xML Sitemap for Google, Yahoo and MSN.
  • Publishing the Rich Sage blog to a list of directories
  • Publishing to a list of Web 2.0 Sites
  • Publishing to a list of Article Sites
  • Publishing to RSS Feeds
  • Posting in a Forum or two.

This has gotten me great progress and momentum. Now I need to “saddle up” and ready myself for the next three phases of “cutting in half” the Alexa ranking. Now you may ask, what about Google’s PageRank (PR) measure? I have basically given up on it, as I haven’t seen a change in that for months. I looked at one site that predicted the next “rank” update will show a “4″. I really don’t give that any credibility. All I have been doing is to make sure that I make good progress in it by publishing my materials –articles and site updates to high ranking sites –just to make sure.

The game plan on moving closer to around 2,000 in the all time ranking list at Alexa has not changed: The plan is…

  • More videos on YouTube
  • More articles to key sites
  • More Affiliates in the Affiliate program
  • Publishing an excellent e-book
  • Keep writing the best content that I can write.

I quickly looked around my competition and see that I really need to improve my rankings. It takes time! I also noticed that my RSS feed subscribers are not many. That is also a high goal of mine –to get that figure over 10,000.

I think the main catelist for these improvements are the two e-books that I have: One I just give away, and the other I’ll sell starting this week! I better get to those details…
