Traffic Surge

Rich Sage Traffic Surge

After nearly a year of work building traffic, and making it to around 200,000 Alexa Rank there was very little progress over the summer months.  That has changed in the past 3 weeks.  I know that for a few years, Alexa rankings have lost some credibility, but I think that has also changed.  I believe they have invested a lot in their network and that shows because the “ranking updates” are much quicker now-a-days.

At the start of the month I wrote a review about Google’s Chrome browser, pointing out that it was actually an operating system (OS) that was taking a “back door” approach to competing with Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.  Very cleaver, but then again, can you expect less from the guys (& gals) at Google?

That review generated a huge amount of traffic, and notched the Rich Sage below the 100,000 rankings.

The ranking above shows a 3-month average.  However, this week, the ranking has climed its way up to 42,000.  Not a bad “climb” –as I recall last year I was ranked at OVER 1,000,000!

More about my traffic growth and how I’ll reach 1,000 or LESS in 2009, as this conversation continues…

Rich Sage dot Com Alexa Traffic Ranking:

Rich Sage Traffic September Alexa Rank

I have written extensively about how I got the ranking from 1M+ down to 200,000.  When you provide a site that offers good advice and a reasonable amount of free services, as I do, wrapped up in a “community” you’re bound to get a good amount of visitors.

There there is the “offline” advertising I do.  Last week I was in London, sitting next to two hip, 20-something ladies –well, asking for directions.  They didn’t know much about my destination because they were from Australia and were there only a few weeks.  Soon as I found out they were from Australia, it took me only 10 seconds more to pull out a few Rich Sage dot Com business cards.  Then I said “When you are back you can say that you met this “Wacky Guy” in London…”

So, what do I do to promote the Rich Sage?  Just about everything… I don’t see it as promotion –It’s just part of me.  So, when I meet someone, it’s just a “natural extension of a conversation” to give a person my card, which they slip into their purse or wallet.

You may consider that mundane or “so old-world”, but trust me, if you posses that kind of attitude, you’re domed to fail.  I think it’s not the card or things that i do that make people remember me –It’s just my positive outlook, my confidence that they remember.

That attitude “transcends” into everything that I do!

Are their setback? Sure. But, that also means there is a solution. I find it.  Therefore, I am confident that all the benchmarks I’ve set out to reach, will be reached.

Now the “ball game gets a bit harder”…

Getting the ranking to around 25,000 or even 10,000 takes some special work, and now I am embarking on that aspect of growth.  Of course, as all things Rich Sage, I am doing all this in a sustainable manner. What does that mean?  Well I don’t work seven days a week. I actually am cutting down on my work schedule from 6 day per week 12 hour days down to a more manageable 4 day work week with 10 hours per day.

I don’t plan on cutting it less than that — I enjoy what I do and having fun at work is very special.

My eventual goal is a ranking of 2,000 to 3,000 and at the current pace that will be reached in January of 2009.  I have made many predictions, and most of them I’ve “nailed” or come pretty close.  This too will be reached in time.  I say that because my priority has changed.  I am sure my “community” will rank as a TOP 1000 Site when I reach my Membership goals.

NO LONGER is MY PRIORITY Building Rich Sage:

Yes, you read that correctly.  Starting today Rich Sage dot com will be on “automatic” — I’ll be here a few times a week, but the posts that I will put up are for ONE PURPOSE:  To help my Members build their own success in my greater business model. Thus far most of the posts were about building a business online, maily my own.  Now I will change that perspective to showing how my Members can build their own business online.  It’s not a cataclysmic change, but it is a major shift in mindset –a change away from my own needs to showing my Members with a diverse set of needs what they can do to build their business online.

Now I better get busy doing that.
Carpe Diem,
Rich Sage
