Update on the Ron Paul Presidential Campaign

Rich Sage Update on Ron Paul’s 2008 Presidential CampaignRon Paul 16th Dec. Update

The Ron Paul for President 2008 Campaign >> got started mainly online.  When Ron Paul ran in 1988 he came in third in the election and raised about what he’s averaged for 3 or 4 days online this time around.  I should add that in the 1988 election, he had less than 600,000 votes nationwide.

Back then your money was not in trouble as it is now.  And since then the US/UN policy has led to about 1 million children’s deaths in Iraq.  Never has America needed real leadership.  I’ll leave the political story out of this conversation.

Anyway, I’ve followed the campaign very closely because Dr. Paul is not by any means the typical candidate.  His ideas take a lot more reading and understanding than the made-for-TV candidates and their advisers.

But, how does one get the attention of the masses in this day and age, without big bucks?

My contention was that only in this day and age with the Internet new media and the ability of anyone to research and make up their minds can such a candidate even exist at such a level.  So, the Internet has created a better playing field. It’s not even yet. But, it is a great generator of ideas and those that are good, live on, to reach the real world.

In the past 20 years, every election had leaders who espoused great virtue and equally good policy.  However, in the drowning of the media and general “noise” they never got their message out since you had to read around 30 minutes of material to understand why their policy ideas were better than the made-for-TV runners.

None of what’s happening with Ron Paul could happen without the Internet media machine where individuals take over and power flows BOTTOM UP.

Indeed, it’s a new era.  I’ve learned so much about Internet brand building from the Ron Paul campaign.  Of course, given a great product (a man of integrity) all this is about time.

I’ve put up the image that shows as of about 6PM on Saturday the 15th of December, $11.5 million raised for this quarter.  I am now wondering what that amount will be by this time on Monday?  $16 Million?  $18 Million?  I will not be surprised that by quarters’ end the total reaches $20 million and Ron Paul has enough money to gain the name recognition that he needs from the non-Internet crowd.
